MCDB 131, Sterile Filtered, 500 ml

MCDB 131 is a sterile-filtered basal cell culture medium formulated to provide a balanced supply of amino acids, vitamins, inorganic salts, glucose, sodium pyruvate and trace elements. 

The formulation contains sodium bicarbonate and phenol red and is supplied without L-glutamine, allowing users to select the glutamine source and concentration appropriate to their culture system. 

The medium is suitable for low-serum or defined supplementation strategies and is commonly used with endothelial and other mammalian cell types.

Applications

• Culture of human microvascular endothelial cells (HMVEC), including endothelial culture systems such as HUVEC.
• Culture of human omental microvascular cells.
• Basal medium for hepatocytes, myocytes and smooth muscle cells.
• Research culture of other endothelial cells, including bovine retinal/lung microvascular and porcine endothelial cells.
• Suitable for reduced-serum or defined supplementation systems, with L-glutamine, serum, growth factors and/or hormones added according to the particular cell-culture protocol.
