RPMI 1640 is a widely used basal medium formulated for the culture of diverse mammalian cells, particularly hematopoietic and lymphoid cell lines. This version contains 15 mM HEPES buffer, providing moderate pH stabilization during routine handling outside CO₂ incubators, and stable glutamine, a more durable form of the amino acid that supports consistent cellular metabolism and protein synthesis. The medium is sterile-filtered to ensure high purity and reliable performance.
